Constructioncrew, Biogas at The Belfry 2026

A biogas event built around experience rather than a conference room.

01Context

Biogas networks the way technical industries tend to: a conference room, a panel, a lanyard, and conversations that rarely outlast the coffee break. The sector is growing quickly and the people in it mostly know each other by company name rather than by sight.

In October 2026 Constructioncrew built the first event of its kind in biogas, in the UK or anywhere in Europe. Biogas at The Belfry billed itself as tomorrow's energy conference today: eighteen holes on the Brabazon at The Belfry in the morning, a black tie evening in the Warwick Suite with dinner and speakers, and around a hundred people across the day. The knowledge was woven through the experience rather than delivered at a lectern.

Fifteen companies across the sector sponsored it, from HoSt Bioenergy Systems and Gas Data to Biodynamics Tanks and Kronoa, which is its own evidence that the industry wanted this to exist. Philipp Genschick, managing director of HoSt Bioenergy Systems, and Dan McDonald, director of Danimak Limited, were among those who spoke.

We were commissioned to capture it, and to produce the material that would carry it afterwards.

Sector: Biogas & Anaerobic Digestion

02The challenge

  • Find a treatment that got people genuinely excited about biogas without overstepping what the industry stands for. Too corporate and it is another conference film nobody finishes; too loose and it undercuts a sector that takes itself, rightly, quite seriously.
  • Make two halves that look nothing alike feel like one event. A golf course in daylight and a black tie dinner indoors share no palette, no pace and no light.
  • Cover eighteen holes of a championship course and a hundred guests across a full day, with four crew and no second chance at any of it.
  • Produce something that sells an event which does not exist yet, since the films had to work as promotion for next year as well as a record of this one.

04The work

On the day

The crew at work, shot by the team covering it.

Three crew fitting a radio microphone and holding a light for a guest in black tie before filming
Two Seven Media camera operators working at the back of the room under blue stage light
Crew filming in the ballroom during the black tie dinner, camera on a gimbal
A close-up magician performing a card trick for a member of the crew during the drinks reception

05The approach

Four crew across the full day, shooting film and photography together, so one visit produced both rather than asking a hundred guests to be covered twice.

On the course, roaming coverage built around the groups rather than the golf. The point was never the shot-making, it was people who had only ever emailed each other spending four hours in the same buggy.

In the evening, multi-camera coverage of the dinner and the speakers, shot to match the black tie room rather than fighting it.

Three edits from the one day: the golf, the evening, and a main film carrying the story across both. The main film is the one that has to argue that a technical industry can also be good company, and it is built around people rather than a voiceover.
